    Development Application DA2025/0001 (Planning Portal Reference No. PAN-486792) seeks consent to expand the existing feedlot operation at the abovementioned property. The current approved feedlot operation has capacity to accommodate 999 head of cattle and 4000 head of sheep (mixed species). The development proposes an expansion to operate as a Beef Cattle Feedlot with a capacity of 3,200 head, and cease the feedlotting of sheep, with the existing infrastructure repurposed for cattle feedlotting. No physical building or construction works are proposed as part of this development.

    This subject application is Designated Development under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulations made thereunder and is Integrated Development under Schedule 1 of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and Section 90(2) of the Water management Act 2000. Approval is required from Environment Protection Authority and WaterNSW.

    This development application, Environmental Impact Statement and the accompanying information can be viewed on the NSW Planning Portal Exhibition webpage, or at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 180 Cressy Street, Deniliquin, between the hours of 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday, for a period of 35 days commencing on 15th January 2025.

    Submissions regarding the above application are invited until close of business Wednesday 19th February 2025, and are to be in writing and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Edward River Council, PO Box 270, Deniliquin, NSW, 2710. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. If you intend to make a submission in relation to this Development Application, you need to complete the Council Disclosure of Political Donations and Gifts’ form and return it with your submission. This form is available from Council’s website.

    If a submission is made against the proposal, unless the Independent Planning Commission has held a public hearing, any submission made in objection to the development by making a submission and who is dissatisfied with the determination of the consent authority to grant development consent, may appeal to the Court. If the Independent Planning Commission holds a public hearing, the Commission’s determination of the application is final and not subject to appeal.

    Any submissions received may be made public in accordance with Schedule 1 Part 3 Clause 1(a)(vi) of the Government Information (Public Access) Regulation 2018 as applicable, including both the substance of the submission and identity of the author.

    In accordance with Section 38 of the Local Government Act 1993, Edward River Council’s Draft Community Strategic Plan will be on public exhibition and open for your feedback.

    The draft Community Strategic Plan is our community plan and will be council’s roadmap, influencing long term and annual programs of work.

    Take the opportunity, review the draft plan and share your thoughts, ideas, suggestions or let us know if we have missed something.

    Our offices will close including Customer Service Centre and Library (incl Library chute) from 12pm Thursday 19 December, with operations resuming Monday 6 January 2025.

    Visitor Information Centre & Peppin Heritage Centre will remain open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day.

    Garbage collection will continue as usual, including on public holidays. Please place your bins out the night prior to collection, as the pick up service will run earlier than usual over the Christmas/New Year period.

    Deniliquin Landfill will close early at 12pm on Thursday 19 December 2024.
    Closed Wednesday 25 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025.
    Open 8.30am to 1pm all other days throughout the holiday period.

    Village Waste & Transfer Stations: Closed Wednesday 25 December 2024 and Wednesday 1 January 2025. Open as per usual schedule all other days.

    In accordance with Section 418 (3) of the Local Government Act 1993, Edward River Council advises that the Council Meeting to be held on 26 November 2024 will include the presentation of the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports for the financial year ending 30 June 2024.

    A summary of Council’s Financial Statements is provided below.

    Copies of the audited Financial Statements and Auditor’s Reports may be inspected at Council’s Customer Service Centre at 180 Cressy Street, Deniliquin, and on Council’s website - see the right side of this page under 'Documents'.

    In accordance with Section 420 of the Local Government Act 1993, any person may make a submission in writing addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and be received before the expiry of the exhibition period, with respect to Council’s Audited Financial Statements or the Auditor’s Reports.

    Submission period closes 4pm on Tuesday 3 December 2024.

    Edward River Council is currently inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the leasing of Airport Land for private hanger use. Hanger lots currently available include 2 x single hanger lots, and 1 x double hanger lot. Lease terms will be for a 20 year period with option for a further 20 years.

    EOI closes at 5.00pm on Friday 11 October 2024.

    Council wishes to advise residents of footpath works planned for the immediate future. There will be footpath works in Davidson Street which will include completely reconstructing the footpath from the intersection of Jefferson Street to 93-97 Davidson Street on the Western side.

    This work is planned to commence on the 24th of July 2024 and expected to be completed by the 16th of August 2024.

    There will be minimal impact to residents, however Council will work with residents to reduce the impact.

    Edward River Council gives public notice of meetings, elections and proposals where members of the public have a right to make a submission under the Local Government Act.

    'Public notice' means a notice published in a newspaper generally circulating in the Edward River local government area.

    Examples of when a Council is required to give public notice include:

    • Council meetings and some committee meetings
    • Making a local law
    • Adopting the annual Budget
    • Declaring a general or special rate
    • Placing a draft local policy on public exhibition
    • Some road works, traffic management and drainage proposals
