Edward River Council is preparing to deliver flood mitigation improvements for Deniliquin by upgrading the North Deniliquin levee system and other flood management works. This project aims to reduce flood risk to residential areas, infrastructure and community assets.
In preparation for these works, Council contractors will be undertaking drone surveys of the levee and other inspections in or near properties starting from 3 August 2026. Inspections will be carried out during the day (weekdays 7:00am–6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am–1:00pm). If any inspections are required outside these hours, we will notify property owners in advance.
What will happen
- UAV Survey Works (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone))
Contractor to conduct feature survey of the levee bank to capture existing ground levels and visible site features. - Visual assessment
Inspectors will observe, measure and record details about the levee bank from outside and inside property boundaries. - Identification
Our inspectors will wear high-visibility PPE and carry photo ID and a letter.
Access
- If we need to enter private property near the levee, our inspectors will knock and advise residents.
- If residents will not be home during the day, they have been asked to secure pets and ensure any external access points (e.g. front or side gates) are open.

Privacy and records
The survey and information recorded will be used only for the purposes of assessing the levee bank, confirming easements, documenting design boundaries and conditions. Further, to be used in the construction of appropriate flood mitigation measures. They are stored by Edward River Council and its contractor/s in accordance with applicable privacy laws and Council policies, and are not shared publicly.
