The draft Stock Grid Policy establishes a necessary framework for managing safety, compliance, and responsibilities associated with stock grids on Council controlled roads. Stock grids present inherent risks to road users and create potential legal and financial exposure for Council if not properly regulated. The policy clarifies that landowners are responsible for maintenance, safety, and indemnity, while Council retains oversight and enforcement powers in accordance with the Roads Act 1993.

The draft policy is now on public exhibition for 28 days, closing on 17th August 2026. We encourage you to have your say on the draft policy.
