About this draft Code of Meeting Practice

Following extensive consultation, the NSW Office of Local Government (OLG) released a new 2025 Model Meeting Code. All NSW Councils must adopt an updated code of meeting practice that incorporates the mandatory provisions of the 2025 Model Meeting Code no later than 31 December 2025.

ERC had updated its Code of Meeting Practice in line with this requirement.

The updated draft Code of Meeting Practice outlines guidelines for conducting council meetings, ensuring they are open, accessible and orderly.

The draft document must be publicly exhibited and submissions received by the Council during this exhibition period must be considered before the final Code of Meeting Practice is adopted by Council.

The current Code of Meeting Practice (endorsed by Council in 2022) that will be superseded can be found here:

A summary of the main changes in the proposed draft Code of Meeting Practice can be found here.

The community is encouraged to review the draft Code of Meeting Practice and provide feedback to Council.
